I’m slightly obsessed with Washington DC, so in true Olivia Pope style, I donned a fabulous wrap-style coat there this past week when I was in town for a quick meeting. I mixed a trio of neutral colors with the grey coat, black Express ribbed turtleneck and white Zara pants. You can never go wrong by staying chic in the classics.
Each of the key pieces in my look this past week in DC are some of my current favorites.
There are so many details on this wrap style coat by Tahari that make it perfect for Fall. It’s oversized collar is one of my favorite components. It’s great in windy weather and will likely be the coat I take up North for Christmas in Illinois this year. Also, the cutaway hem is really flattering. Lastly – it may seem like a small thing, but the belt actually stays in place and keeps the coat closed tight.
If you’ve been shopping lately, then you’ve seen that turtlenecks are everywhere. I saw this ribbed turtleneck on Helena from Brooklyn Blonde blog and thought it was simple, but stunning. I’m not a huge fan of 100% wool sweaters and while I love cashmere, it’s normally pretty pricey. This turtleneck comes in three colors (black, grey, and olive) and is a steal at $49. Express normally has frequent sales too, so you can try to grab it then and get it for an even better price. The material is super soft and the fabric gives a generous amount of stretch to fit your curves just right to make it the perfect fit. I plan to buy the grey during their next sale.
Lastly, these black patent Ronan booties by French Connection are permanently affixed to my feet. I already bought another replacement pair for when I wear these out they are THAT good! They’re on sale at Macy’s and also at Lord & Taylor. I’ve been wearing more and more flats as of late, and these booties were made for all the walkin’ I’ve been doing while I travel.
