How to Go from Work to Cocktails

If you’re a working woman like I am, with a full-time job, trying to balance a career with family obligations and get togethers with your besties, then you know how important it is for your outfits to transition from work to cocktails! For those birthday dinners and regular catch up sessions with the girls I’m often dashing there straight from the office and don’t have time to change between. On those days, I find myself pulling my staple pieces like this classic white skirt and button up sleeveless blouse.

Where do I shop for pieces that go from the office to a night out?

I regularly shop at affordable stores like Ann Taylor, JCrew and Zara and this outfit combines all of those retailers! There are a lot of things I like about Ann Taylor (price point, fun prints, their great tweed pieces!), but what I love most is their tops don’t wrinkle! That’s important for those nights when you have plans after work, but even more crucial for travel and work events when you don’t want to have to worry about ironing in the hotel (or like me, you steam everything you brought).

My top is from last year, but this one is super similar and I just got this one to wear with this tweed skirt at an upcoming event I have later this month.

What about shoes?

Another key to transitioning from work to cocktails is your shoes. You can easily wear flats during the day with this look and change into a fun pair of sandals or pumps like these leather mules with bows! My pair from Zara sold out quick, but this pair is nearly identical in white. This pair of blush loafers would also make a fun statement.
