Right now it’s bitterly cold in many cities around the country, with blizzard conditions in the Northeast and Midwest. But, in South Florida “winter” means it’s in the 50’s and 60’s – aka basically Fall. So, it got me thinking… what do you wear when it’s cold outside and you still want to look and feel date night ready? In my first Winter Style Series, I’ll be sharing four ideas for chic winter date night outfits. This first ensemble is for places where it’s chilly, but not the arctic tundra! Check back so you see all my winter outfit inspiration!

What to Wear When it’s Cold – Date Night Outfits
With all the commitments at the holidays it can be tough to carve out time for a romantic date night. So, when you finally find time to spend some quality moments with your someone special, you don’t want to worry about what to wear. In my Winter Date Night series, I’ll be sharing a variety of chic looks using items you already have in your closet!
For me, date night style usually involves a dress that’s really easy to wear or a really pretty top with dark denim (like I wore in this post). But, what do you wear when it’s cold outside? My answer isn’t to change my total outfit. Instead, I change my accessories!
My first winter outfit inspiration for you is to grab your favorite midi dress (I love this one from Joie that’s on sale!) and layer it up with either a suede moto or your classic leather jacket. Midi or maxi – the dress length doesn’t matter so much. So, you pick! If you opt for a shorter style, then continue to layer with sheer tights.
Then, throw on your black ankle booties or a pair of OTK’s (these are my go to and these are a more affordable version). Although I’m wearing ankle boots in my date night outfit, I prefer over the knees as it elevates the drama of the look. Lastly, I always pile on a few statement pieces like these tassel earrings.
It’s a casual cool look that’s effortless – your first of several date night outfits I’ll be sharing this week!
