There’s something really unique about a vintage piece and this one holds a special place in my heart since it’s from my mom. This tiered, white maxi skirt is Karen Kane (we think?) from nearly 30 years ago and when a recent closet clean-out made it mine – I was in heaven.

White Maxi Skirt
Since nearly everything in my closet it white, it shouldn’t surprise you that this maxi skirt is either! But, seriously – I remember seeing my mom wear this growing up. So, I can’t help but be a bit nostalgic about this changing hands between us. As a frequent editor of my own items (I just took another big stack of things to Goodwill this weekend…), I’m constantly trying to curate a collection of pieces that I consider classics. It can be hard to do that when trends are changing constantly and the fashion industry is onto the next thing so quickly. And with the innate tendency to purge more often than others, this chic white maxi skirt made me stop and think, “Should I be saving some things for my future daughter?!”
It can be hard to take good care of your clothes and though some would argue against dry cleaning, I do think it extends the life of your garments. There may be a cost to do so, but if you truly love something I recommend you take good care of it. Luckily, neither of these pieces – a light, off the shoulder top, or this maxi skirt (this one looks JUST like my mom’s for under $60!) need dry cleaning. I’ve paired this look with these fun espadrilles (similar here) and a bright red bag for a pop of color.
