If you’re like me, then you sit in front of the items in your closet, gazing into the abyss – trying to figure out what to wear every morning. Though I should (and it would probably save tons of time), I’ve never been able to embrace laying out my outfit before I go to bed. Ultimately, it leads to a lot of monochrome looks and re-wearing the same pieces time and time again. Neither of these are horrible things, but it can be a little boring for my style palette.
So, my first bit of advice when shopping your closet is to get inspired. For this outfit, I picked up some tips from fashion blogger Jacie Duprie of Damsel in Dior. Jacie is a pro at layering (which I am not). I would typically just throw on an easy sweater over my white lace skirt. But, it doesn’t create an interesting look. By choosing a high neckline, like this turtleneck, I’ve stepped the outfit up a notch. Then, by layering on my leather-trim tuxedo blazer, I’ve started mixing textures.
To play with the style a bit more, add accessories (another great piece of advice). I wear these tights under dresses all the time. Pairing them with my white lace skirt not only keeps me warm, but also makes the look different. Since I’ve gone with a black and white look, I grabbed my white crossbody bag. This style is a dupe of the Chloe Faye bag which is so popular right now. I also really like this one from Forever 21.
