I may be a little late posting, but this New Year’s Eve silk sheath dress is too good to not share and its on major sale here and here! Matt and I are way past the days of going out to fancy clubs and spending a ton of money to ring in the New Year. Instead, we spent it with a handful of our closest friends playing Cards Against Humanity and Heads up!
Dress: DVF ON SALE! (also here) // Jacket: Zara (old, love this affordable option and this luxury coat) // Pumps: Christian Louboutin (less expensive here) // Clutch: YSL (fun gold option here and less expensive here) // Earrings: Baublebar // Bracelet: JCrew // Bangles: Alexis Bittar // Sunglasses: Warby Parker (similar)
I first saw this gorgeous sheath dress over the summer while my mom and I were in New York City. As I do with most shopping trips, I tried on a bunch of things I liked that I then waited for to go on sale. That’s one of my biggest shopping secrets – I always try things on at the store (or at least as often as I can) even though I do about 75% of my shopping online. That way, I know what size I am and how things will fit me. I think shopping online is so convenient, so I just wait until I’m okay with the sale price until I buy. The only disadvantage is when an item is so popular that it sells out before it ever goes on sale. But, that’s rare.
This gold and white studded DVF stunner took my breath away. I considered saving it for my bridal shower, but I think I’ll want something more form-fitting for that affair. So, I decided this silk sheath dress would be my New Year’s Eve pick. The sheath dress style is looser fitting, so I knew I’d be comfortable the entire night.
I wanted the dress to be the focal point of the outfit, so I paired it with light neutrals. I only wear these Louboutin’s for special occasions (I destroy shoes because I drag my feet when I walk), and I declared New Year’s Eve to be one since it would mark the beginning of our wedding year. These Charles by Charles David pumps are a good dupe and are very affordable. I have them in white and just got a second pair for my birthday.
I wore my classic pave bracelet from JCrew to add some sparkle and a few bangles from Alexis Bittar to complement the look.
I didn’t end up needing my faux fur coat from Zara, but I brought it just in case I got cold. This one is a pretty close match but a bigger investment. This one is less expensive but a little more casual.
