The second island we visited in Greece was Mykonos. Although the city is well known for its nightlife, we used it as a time to relax, eat and shop! We explored Mykonos Town each of the three nights we were there. I found this beautiful woven clutch made by a local designer and knew it would remind me of our trip every time I used it.

The white wash walkways and buildings with the bright blue doors and finishings were some of my favorite details of Greece overall. Mykonos Town had lots of them, plus some beautiful churches, and lots of boutiques and restaurants which ultimately all lead out to a cove on the water which is nice to walk along at night. The streets of Mykonos Town are closed off to traffic at nearly all times, which makes it easier to walk around as a tourist. But, don’t be fooled! The narrow streets form a little maze which can be fun (and challenging) to navigate. We let ourselves get lost just enjoying ourselves. Thank goodness we did – we found our favorite gelato at Trio Bambini on night one and went back three times!
Our amazing travel agent, Josh at , booked us at the Mykonos Blu. It’s a gorgeous tri-level resort with its own private beach. Lots of wealthy foreigners parked their yachts right in the area where we stayed and it was so much fun to look at their huge, decked out boats.
With all of the nightlife in Mykonos Town, it’s a good idea to make dinner reservations. The good restaurants fill up VERY quickly. The staff at the hotel recommended Remezzo and Interni to us, and we loved them both. Remezzo is at the entrance to the Capital area and gives you a perfect view of the cove and the sunset. With most of the clubs and lounges not opening until 1 a.m., most locals won’t eat dinner until 10 p.m. We were the early diners at 8:30!
Interni was tough to find in the little maze of the inner city, but you’ll be glad you did. It’s located in the middle of a beautifully designed garden and is a hip spot for either drinks or dinner. The menu is Mediterranean and Matt and I both had the most delicious beef tenderloin in Madeira sauce with chorizo puree and asparagus.
Of course I made lots of time for shopping. There’s a nice mix of local boutiques and high-end designer stores in Mykonos Town. I spent a good amount of time in the Chanel store, pondering an expensive splurge for the trip. In the end, I bought a brightly woven clutch by a local designer, Kooreloo, at TaiL / or / made. Our hotel had a small store with some amazing finds too. I scooped up a white beach cover-up by Faliakos by Petridis. If you’re looking for fine jewelry or watches, be sure to visit Kessaris. Matt got himself a watch that’s been in heavy rotation since the trip!
