Ahhh, Summer. Those few months of the year when everyone can kick back at BBQ’s, swim in the pool and visit cute little beach towns without freezing their buns off are finally here. It’s funny how as an adult it means so much less than it did when we were kids (hello work obligations!). But, just the same, I’m already finding that we’re using the pool more and throwing on our bathing suits to enjoy the warm days. My collection of little white dresses seems to continue to be growing as well and I blame it on the season.
I’ll be honest – I’ve really been trying to Marie Kondo most things in my life, especially my closet. I don’t like collecting “things” – it gives me a little anxiety. But, if the situation allowed, I would wear a white dress every day in summer. We’re headed up to Chicago in a few weeks to see friends and get out to a Cubs game. This LWD is going to find its way into my bag for the weekend for sure.

My Summer Plans and Go-to Outfits
Quick weekend trips are the name of the game
Last year we took a big vacation to Italy with my parents and I’ve definitely got that wanderlust urge to plan another overseas trip. But, with so many purchases still to make for the house and some other major expenses we’re expecting, an out of the country vacay isn’t feasible this year. Instead, we’ve planned a few long weekend getaways with the first being back-to-back trips to Chicago. The one I mentioned above is really to just see friends and catch the Cubbies playing ball. We normally head out to Matt’s sister’s house for a night but they’ll be out of town. So, instead, we’re going to stay downtown and I’m super excited to spend more time in the Windy City.
If you have hotel recos, please leave them below! We have another trip back to Illinois for Matt’s cousin’s wedding later that month. I haven’t even begun to look at dresses, so I’ll keep you posted on what I plan to wear.
Beyond that, we’re looking to plan a quick trip to the Keys. It’s only two hours away from us. So, that one {should} be easy. Last, but not least, is a little bloggers’ weekend. I’m dying to get to Charleston, but we could end up somewhere in the Caribbean. That one’s still a way out though – likely September.
My go-to summer outfit
I feel like I’ve gotten a bunch of really cute things lately through the brands I work with regularly (#blessed!). Hanging on my clothing rack in my office right now are literally 3 little white dresses. And yes, it’s intentional. The little white dress has really become a staple in my wardrobe and I’ve been thinking I’ll make it my official summer uniform. I’ve talked about dressing in a “uniform” in another post here. Changing up what that uniform is season by season just makes sense to me. Most of the dresses are casual, like this one by Ali & Jay. But, I also love a LWD for summer events (minus weddings!) or date nights too. Nearly 100% of the time, i grab my denim jacket (also love this one), round basket bag and classic aviators to complete the look.
