When I think about 2018, it went a bit differently than I’d planned. Don’t misunderstand me, it was a year filled with beautiful travel and exciting moments like buying our first home. But, I’d also set some goals for myself (read about them in this post) that I didn’t quite attain. While I did a decent job at “appreciating the little things”, I can’t say that I was more present. Thankfully, A Glam Lifestyle was growing and my opportunities to work with incredible brands seemed to continue every month. But, that also meant working long nights and on the weekends to shoot photos and write posts which meant less time with my hubs, family and pups. I took the month of January to reflect on the goal I wanted to set for 2019 and I finally settled on one that will set the tone for the entire year.

My Only Goal for 2019
Prioritizing My Health
When I sat back and really thought about what I want to achieve this year, both personally and professionally, it all kept coming back to one common theme. So, my goal for 2019 is to… prioritize my health. It’s one goal with a few layers. I’ll elaborate a bit below:
Limit my screentime
Some might say it’s a curse, but I think it’s a blessing that one of Apple’s latest releases shows your time on the device and within each app. It’s like a switch flipped in me and I no longer want to mindlessly scroll on Instagram. Of course, it’s still part of my job to engage with followers and post, so I’ve set what I think is a realistic limit of an hour and a half each day.
Get to bed earlier
They say you’re inherently either a morning person or nocturnal, but I think I’m actually both (if that’s possible?). That said, I far prefer getting up earlier and feeling more accomplished. My schedule’s a bit out of whack right now, but I want to get back to getting up earlier. Honestly, this will probably be the hardest part for me!
Try not to complain (as much)
Sometimes I find myself complaining about the most ridiculous things. It could be something that happened at work or something going on in the blogging world (the algorithm!). But, after some time it can really weigh on your mind and make you lose focus of what’s important.
Be a source of positivity for others
I think most people who know me would say I’m glass half-full (at least 90+% of the time) and this is something I want to continue in 2019. Our brains are wired that when we have a good outlook we can achieve more and thus, stay on track with our goals. It’s a mindset I cultivated over the last decade that I want to continue to build and share with those close to me. Life is beautiful and it’s less stressful when you’re positive.
Follow a healthy lifestyle
This last year was a little gluttonous when it comes to diet and exercise. Working out is the primary way I relieve stress and I love how I feel when I’m eating good food. I’m not setting specific goals of cooking or working out a certain number of times a week. I just can’t say I’ll always do that and I don’t want to beat myself up over it. My life motto has always been “everything in moderation”. So, I need to get back to a more balanced diet and workout regimen.
Everyone seems to be divided over whether or not they want to set goals in 2019. I agree, it can be overwhelming. And, you don’t want to let yourself down if you don’t achieve what you set out to do. That’s why I didn’t put specific numbers against my goals (meaning, go to bed before 11 p.m. three times per week). I just want to do better in these areas overall. If I do that, I’ll consider it success!
