If I could live my life snuggled up in the coziest, softest sweaters all day then I’d be a happy girl. Preferably, they’d be made of cashmere. But, any soft yarns will do. Lately, I’ve been expanding my collection of Jenni Kayne sweaters for this reason. They’re just the right amount of oversized (once you have the inside scoop on their sizing). My favs are made of cashmere or alpaca or some luxe blend of fabrics that are crazy cozy. Basically, I feel like I can live in them. So, I do! I don’t work with the brand (#sponsorme). It’s my hard earned $$ going toward their cardi’s and sweaters. So, just know that this post is unbiased. I truly love the brand.
In today’s post I’m sharing a full Jenni Kayne sweater review for a handful of their timeless silhouettes that I personally own, as well as tips on how to style them and what makes them different.
Jenni Kayne Sweater Review
Perhaps like you, I discovered Jenni Kayne on Instagram after seeing countless influencers in the lines luxe knits. But, it wasn’t until several years later that I finally took the plunge and ordered two of their classic pieces – the cashmere cocoon cardigan and the cashmere fisherman sweater. Given that I now own four of their styles, plus the Saturday sweat set, it’s safe to say I’m obsessed. But, I’ll break down all the reasons why I love the casual California brand below.

Best Jenni Kayne Sweaters
One thing you’ll immediately notice about Jenni Kayne is that they don’t have an insane amount of styles. Instead, they focus on a handful of carefully curated silhouettes and offer them in a variety of classic colors (with a few new ones each season). They also offer some of the same sweaters in multiple fabrics (think cotton instead of cashmere) so that they span different price points and are *a tiny* bit more affordable.
Jenni Kayne Fisherman Sweater
First on my favorites list is the cashmere fisherman sweater ($395). It’s hands down my favorite sweater in my closet. I actually own the oversized style ($445) that only comes in a few colors and they also make the same cut in cotton ($345). They’re absolutely an investment, like most Jenni Kayne pieces. But, my first insider tip is to purchase during one of their sales. They’re infrequent, but you can get 20-25% off, which is very helpful!
Aside from price, another difference between the original fisherman sweater and the oversized style is that the original is 100% cashmere. The oversized style is sourced from recycled materials and is a blend of cashmere, cotton and wool (but still mostly cashmere at 68%). These sweaters go with everything from leggings, to your favorite denim and can also be dressed up with trousers or worn over top of a silk midi skirt or dress. In terms of sizing, I stuck with my normal medium. I probably could have made a small work. But, I have long arms and wanted it to be slouchy versus fitted.
If you’re wondering what justifies the cost of this sweater, I’ll try to explain as best I can. First, because you can style it so many ways the cost per wear is awesome. I reach for it nearly every week (even living in South Florida). The classic fisherman style and the super soft fabric drape your body to give you a pulled together look (perfect for dinner dates or executive meetings). Yet, you’re still comfortable. Plus, the generous cut makes it versatile for years (I’m actually wearing it with a bump in the pic directly above). It’s simply a must-have for your wardrobe.
Jenni Kayne Cashmere Cocoon Cardigan
We may as well call this the cult favorite cardigan given it’s popularity. The cashmere cocoon cardigan is constantly being restocked! And, there’s a reason it has more than 1,600 5-star reviews on their site. It’s that good! I tend to wear this more as a sweater than as a cardigan which makes it multi-purpose. But, really it’s the only cardigan I need. Part of why I love it is the length. It hits at just the right point on your body (near the hip for me) when worn open. Or, it can be tucked into the front of your jeans to give it a casual weekend vibe.
Due to it’s acclaim, the cardi comes in 12 colors, all of which are equally covetable. I’ve been waiting for the cinnamon color to come back in stock for months (a fall favorite)! Right now I own the oatmeal color, but I also love the white, stone and taupe colors. Again, at $445 it’s not cheap. But, I can easily justify it because it’s such a quality basic that will never go out of style.
Here’s the tricky part with this piece – sizing. I am wearing a small and honestly would feel better in an extra small. The only reason I say that is because it’s slightly low cut when worn buttoned up like I do and it’s still generously cut through the body. But, I’m never an XS in anything and didn’t want to exchange it. It still works well on my frame. But, I’d recommend sizing down 1-2 sizes.
Jenni Kayne Chloe Crewneck
The Chloe crewneck is a newer style from Jenni Kayne that first debuted in spring 2022. Think of this as your perfect summer sweater. It’s made from 100% cotton that’s incredibly breathable. So, you can wear it with cropped jeans like I did. Or, you can pair it with shorts when the days are warm but the nights are cooler. You can also simply drape it over your shoulders!
The cropped cut isn’t obnoxious (one of my fears when purchasing since I’m generally not a fan). And, the boxy fit makes it the perfect transitional piece between seasons. That ticked two major boxes for me. Of course stripes are a must-have and I adore this colorway. So, all of those details combined make this a major winner for me.
Like the fisherman style, I took a Medium in this sweater. A small would have also worked.
Jenni Kayne Alpaca Cocoon Crewneck
The newest addition to my Jenni Kayne lineup is the alpaca cocoon crewneck sweater. It’s perhaps the most lightweight of their collection, made of 70% baby alpaca, 23% polyamide and 7% merino wool. Your first thought might be – is it itchy? Not a fan of wool myself, I can assure you it is not.
This sweater comes in a handful of colors and I’m wearing the cocoa color (sold out in most sizes). I will say the color looks fairly different in person than it does online. But, I’m still a big fan and the brown tone is on trend.
In my opinion, this sweater is the most dramatically oversized of all JK sweaters I own. I originally purchased the medium. After lamenting over it, I exchanged it for the small and it’s still very oversized.

Are JK Sweaters Worth It?
Look, if you found this post my guess is you likely Google searched specifically for a Jenni Kayne sweater review. You’re probably trying to determine if JK sweaters are worth it. I had the same question for years. Hopefully the fact that I’ve purchased four of them speaks for itself! Jenni Kayne sweaters are absolutely worth it. The quality of their materials plus the comfort and versatility of their pieces will win you over the second you try them on. But, buyer beware! Once you experience the coziness you may want more!
