In a time when consumerism is at an all-time high I continue to lean the opposite direction, trying to figure out more ways I can use the same item over and over again. Fast-fashion really isn’t for me! So, today I’m showing how to wear one dress, two ways. The first gives you a more casual outfit option while the second is a more dressy outfit. How to Wear One Dress, Two Ways
It might be a faux pax for Kate Middleton to wear the same look more than once. But, the same is certainly not true for the rest of the world! If you purchase based on the principle of loving the item, you should wear it again and again (especially if it’s an investment). I have a few of these LoveShackFancy dresses (love this print for spring). The cut is forgiving and the fabric drapes really nice. Also, I size up one size as they tend to run very short! They aren’t the cheapest, but I typically get them on sale and I wear them on repeat.
Depending on what I’m doing, I’ll either dress it up or down. With a simple change of accessories and jacket, it gets a whole new vibe.
One Dress, Two Ways – Casual Outfit
Most days I’m dressed to be comfortable. But, I always want to look pulled together. The easiest way to dress down this look is to pair it with a classic jean jacket and some cute summer sandals! While a denim jacket is perfect for a low key look, a leather jacket is your go-to for a dressy outfit. Draping it over your shoulders is the ultimate cool girl trick. Then, grab a pair of chic heeled sandals. My favorites for the last two summers are this clear pair from Schutz. The block heel makes them easy to walk in and because they’re clear they elongate your legs.
When making a new purchase try to ask yourself, “can I wear this more than one way?” Buy things you love, whether it’s a great-fitting pair of jeans or a bold statement dress.
