There are times I want to be casual for date night, but most times I prefer to dress up. Matt and I just celebrated our one-year anniversary, and we try to do date nights a few times a month whether it’s just going to the Mexican place up the street we love or heading someplace more fancy like Ruth Cris. And, while the days of the bandage dress are behind me, I still want to feel sexy and chic. This little black ruffle dress by Three Dots did just that.

Classic Black Ruffle Dress with Three Dots
As a woman in her mid-thirties, my style has evolved to one of comfort more recently. So far, that’s meant a few things, including wearing more flats and clothes made of soft jersey, chiffon or cotton that aren’t clingy. When this Three Dots dress arrived in the mail, I started obsessing over how soon I could wear it. Firstly, I was a thrilled to see it’s double-lined! It smooths you all over, which is exactly what I want. I think most people that know me would agree I’m pretty confident. But, when you’re in clothes that don’t fit well anyone is bound to feel self-conscious.
Back to the dress. Not only is it SUPER soft (just like the top I styled in this post), but the midi length couldn’t be more flattering. Of course, the one shoulder detail and fluttery ruffle at the top adds a touch of femininity that makes it not just another LBD.
I continued my love affair with blush and nude tones by grabbing my YSL monogram clutch (an investment for sure but it’s timeless) and my mauve sandals by Steve Madden.
Next time you’re planning a night out, grab something like this cute black ruffle dress that adds some flair to an otherwise basic outfit.
