There are some people who think an all black look is too dark and sad. I, on the other hand, think black on black is chic, classic and timeless – especially when you pair a black cashmere sweater with faux leather leggings and over-the-knee boots.
Sweater: Shopbop // Leggings: Ann Taylor (old, similar here and another affordable pair here) // Boots: Sam Edelman (old, similar here, high-end option here, and another similar pair here) // Necklace: Julie Vos (similar) // Bangle: Julie Vos (similar) // Bag: Chanel (similar here and more affordable options here and here) // Sunglasses: Karen Walker
A black cashmere sweater is a staple fashion item every girl should have in her closet. Since Florida lacks the big swing in temperatures that everyone else gets up North, this short sleeve version was perfect for me. I put this gorgeous sweater on my holiday wish list and was ecstatic to find it under the tree from Matt on Christmas morning.
To mix up the textures, I paired this soft sweater with faux leather leggings from Ann Taylor. This pair is from last year, but this pair is available ON SALE right now and comes in black as well as this luxe red color. Since I tend to like Hue leggings, I’m also suggesting these as a similar pair.
Just like a black cashmere sweater is a staple item for your wardrobe, so are suede over-the-knee boots. There are still a few pairs of my Sam Edelman Kayla boots here, but the Steve Madden Gorgeous boots are a really close match (and come in three colors). I tried them on while I was at the mall today buying new bedding for our bedroom set, and they look identical to mine. For $150, they’re a steal.
If you want to take it up to the next level, you should invest in the Stuart Weitzman Highland boots. They are nearly 3x the cost though, so it’s definitely that “once a year” type of splurge. I personally think the fit is better on the Highlands; but, it’s hard to tell the difference when you see them side by side.
I always fall back on my Julie Vos baubles to complement my looks. My mom gave me this pendant for Christmas, so it’s been in regular rotation lately, and I got this bangle in NYC over the Summer. I like the bangle so much I plan to buy it in a few more colors to have a small stack of them.
A black cashmere sweater may be basic, but it’s also classic. The off-the-shoulder detail makes this one a little bit sexy and you can dress it up or down.
How would you style this sweater?
