We’re just a month away from the start of fall and this girl could not be happier! I’m ready to start transitioning out of my summer outfits and into jackets and slouchy sweaters. So, I’m sharing my best tip and favorite fall floral dresses for fabulous fall transitional style in today’s post, scroll down for all the info!
8 Affordable Fall Floral Dresses from Shopbop
Truth is, for me fall style starts with a midi dress. My closet is full of fall floral dresses. They’re one of the easiest things in your closet to continue wearing when the air gets crisp and the chill sets in. In Florida, we basically get fall weather for winter too. So, my top tip for transitional style is to think about layers.

Transitioning your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall
Being as fashion-obsessed as I am, I get excited for the weekend emails that alert me to Shopbop’s new arrivals for the week. In the last week or two, the transition to long-sleeved tops, sweaters and longer dresses has been subtle. But, it’s happening and I am here for it!
The Best Fall Floral Dresses Right Now
One of the best things about a floral dress is its versatility. Spring, summer, fall or winter – chances are you own your fair share already. The dress I’m wearing here is by a new-to-me brand, re:named. At only $60 it’s an incredible deal. And, the cut is really beautiful with the open back and the moderate front side slit.
Another brand I’m loving is Opt. They have a huge selection of fall floral dresses right now and are also fairly affordable. My favorite is this one at $135 and I also love this one that’s on sale for just over $100.
Lastly, if you haven’t heard of Sister Jane, you need to check them out. Everything is under $300 for the most part and puff sleeves seem to be a staple in the line (which I love). Right now I’m coveting this floral pink dress that’s got a sheer overlay. I’d style this with a leather jacket and booties in fall and with a faux fur coat in winter. Swoon!
When I have time, I like to peruse the Editor’s Picks boutique. They’ve basically scoured through all the designers and have curated their must-have items.
Fall Style Tip: Layer Up your Dresses
My First Choice: a (Faux) Leather Jacket
The best way to transition your favorite midi or maxi dresses is with a great leather jacket. Shopbop has a big selection with affordable brands like BB Dakota and Blank Denim. For darker dresses, you can’t go wrong with classic black. This one is my top pick. But, if your dresses are lighter colors go with a white leather jacket like this one instead (under $50!). You can get away with sandals and keep your look dressy through September or October. Then, you can switch over to boots or booties.
An Easy Alternative: the Utility Jacket
If you prefer a dressed down look, try your dress with a chic utility jacket. I just bought this one by Rails and I’m obsessed with the slightly boxy fit. Then, swap your sandals out for sneakers. I’m really into Veja right now and just ordered my first pair.
The Classic Choice: the Blazer
For any of you who will still be on Zoom calls come fall, I’d recommend a classic blazer layered over your fall floral dresses. Admittedly, this can often be a more expensive way to transition your look. But, this plaid blazer by BB Dakota is only $60 and this double breasted style is just $88. So, you can always find a way so you don’t break the bank.
There you have it. Transitioning your dresses to fall is as easy as adding a great layer, be it a leather jacket, utility style or blazer. Happy styling!
