When biker shorts started going down the runways a couple of years ago, my first thought was – not for me. But, as celebrities and fashion’s IT-girls alike started styling them and making them mainstream, I have started to warm up to the idea. At this point, the biker shorts trend has been raging on for more than two years. And, my guess is they are here to stay for at least another year with so many of us still at home. So, as I continue to expand my fashion horizons I’m here to report that I recently purchased a pair of affordable leopard print biker shorts. Why leopard print? It’s simple – it’s been a longtime favorite of mine (as shown here and here). It’s fun and chic, but at the same time it’s an elevated neutral. A Casual Leopard Biker Shorts Outfit for Summer
You might remember that I dipped my toe in the biker short trend in this post. So, I guess it’s safe to say I’ve gone “all in” since this is my second outfit featuring them in just a few weeks. I’m good with it! After all, royalty like Princess Diana also rocked a pair of bike shorts back in the 90’s and she’s since become a fashion icon. So, it’s probably more fitting that we should consider them a classic! When I saw that one of my fav athleisure brands, Onzie, had a pair of cute leopard bike shorts I knew I’d get a lot of use for them as a casual summer outfit.
At this point, it’s anyone’s guess when quarantine will officially be over. So, I’ll continue to stay cozy in my biker shorts. Some days they’re as close to “real clothes” as I get and there’s no shame in that comfort game.

So, you’re psyched about the idea of leopard print biker shorts and now you’re thinking – well, how do I style them? How can I make this trend feel like “me”? Fear not! There are a bunch of ways to wear bike shorts during summer and info fall. This look isn’t just for the likes of Hailey Baldwin and Kim Kardashian. Putting together a chic ensemble with biker shorts works for all body types.
The Main Focus – Leopard Biker Shorts
With any trend, you want to find a version that aligns with your style. For me, that means it needs to be either white, black, pink or animal print. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw there are a bunch of biker shorts at various price points on Shopbop. I regularly shop there online. So, they were one of the first retailers I looked at for options.
Like I said, the shorts I’m wearing are from Onzie. They just released the same pair in a shorter length that I’m LOVING. But, I also found an affordable pair from BB Dakota that are very cute. Both are under $60! If you want something a bit longer, Ganni makes a cute pair that are just over $100.
Personally, I think the shorter length are great for athleisure. But, the longer biker shorts are more sophisticated. You’re not worried about them riding up to an inappropriate length and they completely cover your thighs.
What to Wear on Top
So, when I purchased these leopard bike shorts, I planned to wear them with simple tees. Some of my favs are from Z Supply. But, when they arrived I started pairing them with cozy sweatshirts instead! Seems I’m constantly cold in our house (Matt says it’s my fault since I set the A/C in the low 70’s). But, it all worked out! I absolutely love the way this outfit came together. To make the outfit a little more edgy, try a sweatshirt from Anine Bing like I’m wearing.
Another idea, throw on an oversized blazer with a comfy t-shirt for an easy biker shorts outfit. This faux leather style will earn you best dressed on anyone’s list and adds a luxe touch to an otherwise laid back look. With the blazer, pumps or sneakers work and you can wear what works for your comfort level.
My Fav Summer Accessories
Then, the outfit really comes together with the accessories. I love a pair of white sneakers for summer. Mine are from last season from Chanel. But, this pair from Veja is nearly identical and a fraction of the cost. Like I mentioned above, you can add some sex appeal with a pair of heels. But, for day-to-day I think sneakers are the best option.
I also love to throw on a hat with these casual looks. That way, you can get away with another day of not washing your hair! But, you still look pulled together whether you’re running errands or doing something fun with the family. If you’re dressing up the look, add a headband (these are my favorite). It makes the shorts more feminine and fun.
How to Style Leopard Print Biker Shorts
Both practical and functional (and cute, if you ask me), leopard biker shorts have earned the right to a spot in your dresser. Let’s check the list. They’re great for moms. You can work out in them if you so choose. The style works for date night or WFH (me! me! me!). And, the outfit options are endless. What’s not to love?
