Ever since I was little, I’ve played sports. From tennis to gymnastics (so. many. leotards!), then track and field and cheerleading in high school, I’ve always enjoyed being athletic and working out. There’s something about that post-sweat sesh natural high that de-stresses me and gets my mind right. But, I think I’m the only one of my friends that really, truly likes being active. When I sat down and thought about it, I realized there are a few {easy} things you can do to enjoy working out more. From changing up your routine to getting some cute workout gear (like these leopard leggings), read my top 5 tips to work out more below!

5 Ways to Enjoy Working Out More
Get yourself some cute workout gear!
First and foremost – get yourself some chic workout clothes! And, it doesn’t have to be Lululemon (but if you want a reco – these are my FAVE leggings). Get a few outfits that inspire you and I promise you’ll be more inclined to sign up for a yoga class or finally try kickboxing.
If you need to kickstart your online shopping for some gear, these leopard leggings are under $70 and I talked about my obsession with Athleta leggings in this post. Also, I found these gymshark dupes for under $20! Then, stock up on some basic sports bras and some affordable tops. If you’re in need of new sneaks, these Asics are my go-to for going on 20 years! Even with moderate to heavy use, they should last about a year. Ditch the baggy tees and get on that treadmill!
Crank the jams!
My next reco to get your body moving more is to play some kick ass music! It could be the Ariana Grande station on Pandora (currently in heavy rotation personally) or a few playlists you can rock out to on Spotify. Whether I’m out on a walk, jogging around the lake or doing some weights at the gym, when an awesome song comes on it makes me burn more calories and pick up my pace.
Find a workout partner.
It’s true – there’s strength in numbers! Aside from the obvious benefit that a fitness buddy can motivate you, having someone else to hold you accountable for getting to class gives you a significantly higher success rate of meeting your goals. You’re simply less likely to hit the snooze button when you’ve agreed to meet a friend to workout. It can be one other person or even a group of friends. The more the merrier!
Switch up your workout to avoid a rut
We’re all creatures of habit. We do the same exercises over and over because they’re comfortable and yet we expect to see results. But, your body gets used to those repetitions. For women, changing up our workout means different muscle groups are exposed. So, there’s a decreased chance of injury from overworking the same muscles.
It’s been a while since I’ve gone (and I intend to start back up!), but Pure Barre has been the absolute best total body workout for me. You can tone every major muscle group and make friends in class. They also change up the exercises every month or so to keep it fresh. At the same time, I try to pop into a hot yoga class a few times a month. Then, I’ll walk on the weekends with Matt (or my mom) and run on my own after work 1-3 times a week.
Invest in a fitness tracker
There’s something so gratifying about meeting your goals and having a visual confirmation. While it’s certainly not a must-have, I recommend investing in a fitness tracker as another way to enjoy working out more. I use the Apple Watch and when those rings are completed, signaling I’ve burned enough calories or got my heart pumping, I’m proud! If you’re not an Apple fan, then try the Fitbit. Inevitably, your fitness buddy will be sick one day and your tracker can fill the gap.
I hope you found this helpful! At the end of the day, you’re still going to have to put in the effort to get the results you want. But, any combination of the recos above should help you enjoy working out more.
