After all that 2020 has thrown at us, it would be so easy to call it quits and just wear sweats on New Year’s Eve. And, there’s no shame in that. I just bought these. But, there’s something about this craziness that makes me want to get all dolled up in a fabulous sequin dress and will myself into 2021 in a big way! From metallic tops to an oversized sweater, there’s not one “right” way to dress for New Year’s Eve. If this year has taught us anything, it’s that cozy clothes are not overrated. So, for anyone planning to snuggle up on the couch with a glass (or two) of vino, this neutral lounge set is for you. We will likely be with a small group of friends to ring in 2021. Can you believe we’re less than 48 hours away from 2021? For that reason, I’m sharing 5 New Year’s Eve outfit ideas. New Year’s Eve will forever be synonymous with glitz and glamour. With that said, you simply can’t go wrong with a sequin dress. It can be dinner for two or a small party and a Retrofête frock will always be a stunner! I recently bought one during the Black Friday sale at Net-a-Porter (worn above). And, they still have a few colors marked down. Also, I found my coveted Schutz sandals on sale too!
If the idea of getting dressed up gives you anxiety, ditch the dress and opt for a cute lounge set. Or, grab a pair of chic pajamas (love this silver leopard set). Then, instantly elevate your look with faux fur slippers.
What to Wear on New Year’s Eve
After some back and forth group texts, it sounds like our attire for the night will be dressy casual. With that in mind, I’ll likely grab a metallic top and jeans with a pair of heels. I had my eye on this 7 for All Mankind top last year and then found it on sale here (also here)! So, that’s one option for me!
For anyone who lives where it’s colder, you could wear a cozy sweater with a pair of coated denim (obsessed with this color). It doesn’t get easier than this! And, you likely have a bunch of options already in your closet.
Truth be told, I don’t mind staying in and keeping New Year’s more low key. We did the same thing in past year’s and it still felt festive. This year may be difference since we’re still living through a Pandemic. But, really anything goes. You do you this New Year’s Eve.
