5 Beauty Faves in January

5 Beauty Faves in January

After my birthday this past November, I’m officially in the back half of my thirties which means its time to kick it into high gear when it comes to beauty and skincare. And, although I never played with makeup much as a kid (I was flipping around on the balance beam instead!), it’s definitely a passion of mine now. You know how you feel when you get to the spa – there’s soothing music on and a sweet smelling aroma that makes your stress fade away? I love recreating that spa-like environment at home.

Matt basically knows it’s inevitable I’ll light a candle (or five) moments after getting back from the office. So, for Christmas this year I asked for a handful of beauty items I’d been looking to try, like this cult favorite perfume by Byredo and this candle by Diptyque. Both have completely rocked my world and I’m sharing my full review on 5 beauty faves in January.

5 Beauty Faves in January You Should Try

Let’s get this out of the way right up front – each of the items I’m featuring in this post are things I absolutely LOVE. Like, not just like. But, LOVE. Many are items I coveted for months, if not years (Gypsy Water). The blush was limited edition and actually (potentially) came back permanently? It’s currently stocked online, as well as at Nordstrom too.

Best of Beauty – January Edition

Diptyque Benjoin Candle

The fragrance story on this candle reads as somewhere between vanilla and caramel and it’s 1000% accurate. Just like my obsession with sugar, my sense of smell also gravitates toward sweet smells. I’ve been lighting this a few times a week and on the weekends, but what I love most is that I can smell it without even having it burning.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue Cream

So, technically this is a repurchase (probably my 5th or 6th by now?) and I swear by this eye cream. It has a dewy feel in terms of application and how it feels on your skin afterward. I try to let it dry a bit before setting my head on my pillow. But, if I go a few days without this product those fine lines are immediately noticeable around my eyes. This is a staple in my routine.

Byredo Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum

There were so many times over the last three years or so that I almost bought this perfume and didn’t because it isn’t sweet like most others I wear. It may sound crazy, but any perfume I buy has to feel like me. This scent is more woodsy but still has an Amber note as it’s base (one of my favorites). To be honest, I think it’s universally flattering. Only downside – for the price I find that it doesn’t last as long as I expected. Pro – the packaging is beautiful and Matt likes the smell! He is SO tough when it comes to my perfume (read – most things I bring home in the small test tubes to try he thinks are too strong or just flat out hates). This one is husband approved!

Oribe Power Drops Hydration and Anti-Pollution

OMGeeeee! There aren’t enough exclamation points to talk about this product. To start with, something crazy has been going on the last few months with my hair. I’m talking dry, split ends within weeks of my haircut where I used to be able to go at least 2 months. This has been going on for a while and I’m not sure if it’s diet related or what, but this stuff is LIQUID GOLD! It has hyaluronic acid in it which deeply conditions and hydrates your locks. The price tag is a bit steep at $58, but when I use a full beaker of this on my damp hair I can literally see the ends of my hair soaking it up. It feels better and looks better (compliments to boot!). This is my top winner for January.

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blush (shade Pillow Talk)

This is now the 3rd blush I own from this line and just like the lipstick – I love it. Truthfully, I need to wear this shade a bit more so that I can officially rank it amongst the others I own (First Love has been a running fave for two or more years). What I love about this product is that there’s a highlighter in the middle. So, it’s a 2-for-1!
